Hybrid CERT

Interested in taking CERT  Training in a whole new way?


The Costa Mesa Hybrid CERT program combines an online course and in-person training program. We have partnered with the California Office of Emergency Services Training Institute to provide the online training course - CERT Basic Course and Triage Module.  These courses provides a comprehensive learning experience with the CERT Curriculum - preparedness, team organization, disaster medical operations, disaster psychology, fire safety and utility, control light search & rescue and homeland security. The online course is required to attend the in-person skills course to be offered throughout the year. In-person hands-on skills course is planned for late February (Tues and Thurs evenings 6-9 and a Sat. 830-430). Register with the fire department using the application located in the training section of this website or go to www.costamesaca.gov/cert

Here is the link to the California Specialized Training Institute – CSTI -  Remember you will need to create a profile. When you are done you will receive a completion certificate for the online portion only. http://csti-ca.csod.com

SEMS G606

Suggested Course for CERT - SEMS G606 FREE Online Course The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services provides the online training course - Standardized Emergency Management System Introduction (SEMS G606)  This course provides a comprehensive discussion of the components of SEMS and how SEMS is used in California. Content includes mutual aid, multi-agency coordination, the operational area concept, and how the five levels of government communicate, interact, and share resources. The course meets the training requirement per CCR Title 19 § 2428. SEMS G606 is a required course for Type III EOC Position Credentialing.

Register: 1. To access the training visit CSTI.ORG 2. Register in the Learning Management System (LMS) if you have not done so already by clicking the large green Register button in the center of the page and following the on-screen registration instructions. 3. Log in for the first time  Once logged in: 1. Click the large yellow “Browse Training” button in the center of the page. 2. On the left side of the “Browse for Training” window, you can filter the courses by selecting the small stack of books icon “Curriculum”. 3. On that page, select the “Standardized Emergency Management System Introduction (SEMS G606) Online Course". The curriculum is in two sections, the online course and the exam. The online course must be completed prior to taking the exam. Upon course completion, a course certificate is available for print by visiting: 1. Home/Universal Profile 2. Selecting Transcript 3. Click the “Active” button, and select “Completed” 4. To the right of the completed course, click the drop-down and select “View Certificate”.  If you have not signed up please visit CSTI.ORG to enroll today.
